James Fletcher has dedicated his professional legal career to vigorously defending citizens accused of criminal charges in the State of Texas. He has taken over 35 cases to trial, from voir dire to verdict. James is unafraid to stand up and fight for his clients, and has worked hard to maintain that reputation in his 5+ years of practicing Criminal Defense Law.
James was born and raised in Houston and attended college at Baylor University. After graduating with a degree in psychology James went on to work for Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in the Office of Clinical Research. It was here that James began developing a love for science and its application in every day uses. James continues to apply science in defending his clients, especially those accused of Driving While Intoxicated or Possession of Controlled Substances. James has twice attended the acclaimed Axion Laboratories forensic science training seminars in Chicago to learn the ins and outs of analytical chemistry testing for both alcohol and solid drug analyses.
During law school at South Texas College of Law, James earned awards for excellence in the study of criminal law as well as speaking awards for moot court competitions. James interned for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office throughout law school, where he learned the ways the State attacks those who stand before the court accused of both misdemeanor and felony crimes. James then worked for a prominent criminal defense firm in Houston before opening his own law firm. After moving to Austin, James became an Associate Attorney at Hamilton Grant.
When not in the courtroom James enjoys spending time with family and friends, his dog Justice, and closely following the NBA, particularly the Houston Rockets.
